Fentanyl Kits Now Legal In Georgia

Governor Brian Kemp signs HB 1175 into law legalizing the possession and use of fentanyl testing kits.

HB 1175 passed both chambers of the Georgia Assembly with bipartisan support; the amendment supporting legalization of fentanyl testing kits was co-authored by Senator Jeff Mullis, Chairman of the Senate Rules Committee and Senator Jen Jordan.

The Georgia Council on Substance Abuse thanks Governor Brian Kemp, Senator Jeff Mullis, Senator Jennifer Auer Jordan, and the entire General Assembly for their bipartisan support of these life saving tools.

“Fentanyl strips and Narcan are the one-two punch to save lives in Georgia,” Jeff Breedlove with the Georgia Council on Substance Abuse, said. “If you love somebody out there, and you think they’re in active addiction, you want them to have as many fentanyl strips in their possession as they possibly can.”
