H.R.7666, the Restoring Hope for Mental Health and Well-Being Act
Georgia Council for Recovery Calls on the Georgia Congressional Delegation for Support
The Georgia Council for Recovery calls on each member of the Georgia Congressional Delegation, and all Members-Elect, to announce via social media their public support for prioritizing H.R.7666, the Restoring Hope for Mental Health and Well-Being Act, for inclusion in an end-of-year package.
The Bipartisan Addiction and Mental Health Task Force, a coalition of 140 Members of the House of Representatives, worked hard to have this comprehensive bill pass the House by 402-20 in June. Now is the time to make certain this important legislation is included as Congress considers an end-of-year funding package.
The Restoring Hope for Mental Health and Well-Being Act addresses the full spectrum of behavioral health needs through improvements for substance use disorder prevention and treatment, recovery housing, suicide prevention and crisis care, and community and school-based mental health services.
“The Restoring Hope for Mental Health and Well-Being Act expands access to care with programs to expand and train the behavioral health workforce, promote treatment parity, and increase peer support. Georgia peers and families need and deserve public support from our Congressional Delegation,” said Neil Campbell, Georgia Council for Recovery, Executive Director.
“We have reached an inflection point. We cannot continue on our current path, leaving people to struggle with unmet needs for mental health and substance use support. The Restoring Hope for Mental Health and Well-Being Act is a sweeping, strongly bipartisan bill that will help turn the tide of the addiction and mental health crisis. The Restoring Hope for Mental Health and Well-Being Act must be an end of year priority for Congress,” said Jeff Breedlove, Georgia Council for Recovery, Chief of Policy and Communications.
