Under the leadership of Governor Brian Kemp and Commissioner Judy Fitzgerald, the Georgia Council for Substance Abuse (GCSA) has been granted and tasked with a serious and substantial investment in a stigma-reduction campaign promoting the benefits recovery by showcasing citizens of Georgia who are living lives in long-term recovery.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_xmsonormal\">The groundbreaking 2019 Georgia Recovers Billboard Project featured 18 Georgians in recovery in a campaign which achieved over 185 million media impressions, shattering anticipated targets.\u00a0 Once again, Governor Brian Kemp and Commissioner Judy Fitzgerald continue to advance a stigma-breaking peer-positive recovery project which\u00a0demonstrates the hope and power of recovery, rather than the stigma and discrimination of addiction.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_xmsonormal\"><b>Neil Campbell, Executive Director of the Georgia Council on Substance Abuse<\/b>\u00a0commented, &#8220;I am excited to introduce the 2022 Georgia Recovers project. In Georgia, we embrace the power of the lived recovery experience because we believe in the people of Georgia. Georgia Recovers highlights sixteen Recovery Ambassadors who have survived the disease of addiction and are excited and proud to share the message that\u00a0<b>Recovery is Real<\/b>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_xmsonormal\"><b>Jeff Breedlove, Chief of Communications and Policy at the Georgia Council on Substance Abuse<\/b>\u00a0further notes, \u201cThe Georgia Council on Substance Abuse is proud to partner with Commissioner Judy Fitzgerald and the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Disabilities (DBHDD) on the Georgia Recovers project.
