Atlanta, GA – On\u00a0Tuesday,\u00a024 January, 2023<\/b>\u00a0there will be over 1,500 people in Recovery, medical professionals, family members and other allies convening\u00a0at the Georgia Freight Depot and inside the State Capitol\u00a0<\/b>to celebrate the power of Recovery in Georgia for the\u00a014th Annual Addiction Recovery Awareness Day.\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n
These Georgian\u2019s represent the over\u00a0800,000 people in Recovery across Georgia.<\/i><\/b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n
This event is jointly organized by a collaborative network of addiction treatment and recovery stakeholders and advocates including:<\/p>\n
Georgia Council for Recovery (GC4R), Georgia Addiction Counselors Association (GACA), Georgia Association of Recovery Residences (GARR), STAND, Inc., Georgia Association of Community Service Boards (GACSB), Penfield Christian Homes, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Certification of Georgia (ADACB\/GA), Georgia Overdose Prevention, Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation, and the Kennesaw State University Center for Young Adult Addiction and Recovery.<\/p>\n
The purpose of this day is to celebrate the power of Recovery in the lives of everyday Georgians and to demonstrate that Georgia\u2019s leadership stands united in support for the Georgia Recovery Community.<\/p>\n
The Georgia Recovery Community supports initiatives which promote prevention and early intervention; increase opportunities and resources for treatment and support pro-recovery policies that increase the likelihood of sustained, long-term recovery.<\/p>\n
