Georgia Celebrates National Recovery Month: September 2021
Recovery is For Everyone: Every Person, Every Family, Every Community
27 Official Georgia National Recovery Month Events in 25 Communities Across Georgia
Tucker, GA –
The Georgia Council on Substance Abuse (GCSA) is pleased to announce that Georgia will celebrate National Recovery Month in September this year. Working in partnership with our friends at the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, GCSA is looking forward to a positive and powerful Recovery Month across Georgia in 2021.
The theme this year: “Recovery is For Everyone: Every Person, Every Family, Every Community,” reminds people in recovery and those who support them that no one is alone in the journey through recovery. Everyone’s journey is different, but we are all in this together.
GCSA is pleased to announce there will be 27 official Georgia National Recovery Month events in 25 communities across Georgia representing the diversity of the Georgia Recovery Community and demonstrating that Substance Use Disorder is a statewide issue.
“There are over a million Georgian’s whose lives have been transformed through recovery. Since these successes often go unnoticed by the broader population, Recovery Month provides a vehicle for everyone to celebrate these accomplishments. Recovery Month reinforces the positive message that behavioral health is essential to overall health and that people can and do recover,” said Neil Campbell, Executive Director of the Georgia Council on Substance Abuse.
“Recovery is real. Thanks to Governor Brian Kemp, Commissioner Judy Fitzgerald, and the members of the Georgia General Assembly Working Group on Addiction and Recovery, communities across Georgia will celebrate the hope, joy, and power of recovery with these safe and inclusive events,” said Jeff Breedlove, Chief of Policy and Communications for the Georgia Council on Substance Abuse.
